Grabbed on sight, shaken hard, carried from room to room.
- The one they keep coming back for: a squeaker sits inside the plush body, so every shake pays back with a noise your dog made happen.
- Made for a small mouth to grip: the two cotton rope legs twist down thin and knot at the tip, so a Yorkie or a Cocker Spaniel catches hold instead of sliding off.
- One less thing to pick up off the rug: the eyes and the little crown are embroidered into the plush rather than glued on top.
What the two ropes are for
A plush toy on its own is something to carry. Rope is something to pull against, and pulling is the game most dogs are asking for.
Both legs are cotton, twisted tight and knotted at the end. Teeth sink between the strands and the knot stops the mouth slipping off. Your dog leans back, the rope gives a little, and there is something in it to win.
The one you would pick and the one they would pick
You are looking at a pink squid with a crown stitched on its head. It is a nice thing to find on the rug.
Your dog is looking at a handful of things to grab. Soft tentacles that flap when it moves, two ropes swinging behind them, and a noise hiding somewhere in the middle.
Ten minutes on the kitchen floor
You get in, you put your bag down, and your little one is already at your feet with it. You take one rope leg. They take the other.
That is the whole game. It lasts about as long as you want it to, and it ends with a squeak and a dog flopped down happy.
Questions
Will my dog take to it?
The squeak is what gets it picked up, and the rope legs are what keep it in play. Dogs who like to shake and carry take to it quickly, and dogs who would rather pull have something to pull against.
What size dog is it made for?
It runs 30cm from the crown to the end of the rope, and the body is 9.5cm across. It is lighter and smaller in the hand than the photos suggest, and that is the point: a small mouth can get a proper grip on it.
It is cut for small and medium dogs. A Yorkshire Terrier, a French Bulldog, a Cocker Spaniel.
Is it made to stand up to chewing?
It is built as a bite resistant plush toy, with the cotton rope taking the pulling and the plush taking the shaking. Bite resistant, though, is not indestructible.
It is at its best as a game you play together, which is also how most dogs want to use it.
Can it be washed?
Yes. It is plush and cotton rope throughout, so a gentle wash and a full air dry is all it needs. Give the rope legs time to dry right through before the toy goes back out.

small but the dog likes it a lot
Way cute but way to small at
I've washed it and am waiting for it to dry. It seems like a good size for small dogs to play with. I've washed it and am waiting for it to dry. It seems like a good size for small dogs to play with.
