No more sticky sheets. No more hair on your black jeans.

  • The hair rolls up into one clump: wipe in one direction and the loose fur gathers into a ball you lift off with two fingers.
  • Emptying it takes one stroke: the pad is split down the middle and the nap runs the opposite way on the far half, so wiping back lets the hair go.
  • One pad does the dog, the sofa and your coat: the same surface works on fabric as it does on fur, so a car seat and a jumper get the same treatment.
  • Nothing to buy again: there is no sheet to peel off and bin, so it goes back in the drawer and comes out again next week.
  • Your dog thinks they are being stroked: it goes over the coat with an open palm, no pins, no teeth, no pulling.

Why one direction picks up and the other puts down

The grey face is not smooth. The fibres all lean the same way, like the pile on velvet, so pushing against the lean catches hair and pulls it into a line.

The far half of the pad leans the other way. Wipe back across it and the same fibres let go, which is how the clump ends up loose on the surface instead of buried in the cloth.

Ten minutes before someone comes round

The grey rope down the middle of the sofa cushion is the thing you see first, and a vacuum drags it around without ever picking it up.

Three passes with your hand flat and it is a ball in your palm. Then the armchair, then the seat of the car, then the front of your coat.

A hand goes where a brush does not

Plenty of dogs back off from a brush. They have felt a pin catch on a knot before and they remember it.

This is your hand with something soft on it, moving the way you already stroke your companion. The hair comes off as a side effect of something they were happy to sit through.

Questions

Does it work on short hair?

That is what it is best at. The short bristly hair a Frenchie or a Beagle leaves behind is the hair that works its way into upholstery and stays there, and this lifts it out rather than skating over it.

Long hair from a Golden Retriever or a Collie comes off just as readily, usually in bigger pieces.

Will it fit my hand?

It comes in one size and there is nothing to fasten. The pad is 24cm by 16cm with an elastic band across the back, and you slide your hand under the band with a pull on the tab.

It works through your palm rather than your fingers, so press down as you sweep and let your hand do the work.

How do I clean the pad?

Most of the time you do not need to. Wipe the collected hair off on the release half, pick the clump up and carry on.

If the face starts to feel slick after a lot of use, rinse it under a cold tap, squeeze it out and stand it up to dry.

Why would I want more than one?

So there is one where the hair is. People keep one by the sofa and one in the glovebox, because the ten seconds it takes to fetch one from upstairs is the ten seconds nobody bothers with.
