The dog everyone in the park stops to photograph.

Your dog gets the shade and you get the photograph: two tinted lenses in a wrapped frame that follows the line of the face instead of sitting flat across it.
They fold flat and live in a pocket: a hinge at the bridge brings the two halves together, down to about the size of a folded pair of reading glasses.
Set once and they stay put: one strap behind the head, one under the chin, each on its own slider.
Nothing presses where it should not: a soft pad sits behind each lens so the frame rests on fur rather than on the brow bone.

The reason the hinge matters

Rigid goggles are a thing you have to plan for. They go in a bag if you remember the bag, and most days you do not, so they stay in a drawer being an excellent idea.

These close in half at the bridge. At 31 grams they go in a coat pocket alongside the bags and the treats, which means they are on you the day the sun is actually out.

Which dogs do they fit?

One size, cut for a medium face and upwards. A Pug, a French Bulldog, a Beagle, a Cocker Spaniel and a Labrador all sit inside the frame comfortably.

On a very small breed such as a Maltese or a Chihuahua they come up wide across the cheeks, so those dogs are better off in something scaled down.

How do dogs take to wearing them?

Build up to it and most dogs settle quickly. A minute indoors with something good to eat, then two, then a walk, rather than straight out of the packet and onto the head.

Loosening the chin strap by a notch on the first few goes helps. A little movement is easier to accept than something clamped on.

Do they stay on once they are set?

Yes. The head strap stops them sliding forward and the chin strap stops them lifting, and the two together are what makes the difference from a pair that hooks over the ears.

Both straps are elastic on plastic sliders, so you set the length once and they hold it between outings.

What colours are there?

Six frames: white, black, red, blue, yellow and pink. The lenses are the same smoke tint on all of them, so the choice is purely how loud you want it.

Black and white read as the quiet ones. The rest are the reason people stop.
