Will his nose fit in the holes?
If he is a Cavalier, a Jack Russell or anything smaller, yes. The holes are cut for a fine muzzle.
A broad-nosed dog gets the green tops in his teeth and pulls from there instead, which works, though it is a rougher way to play.
Can I hide treats in the holes?
This is a pull-out game rather than a treat dispenser. The holes run deep and kibble slips down past the carrot rather than sitting under it.
Reward him from your hand as each carrot comes out. It keeps you in the game, which is half of why he likes it.
How do I clean it?
The carrots are plush and can be washed by hand. The patch has a shaped core inside the fabric, so keep that one out of the machine and sponge it instead.
Four holes or twelve?
The twelve-hole patch is the larger square and takes longer to clear, so it suits a dog who solves things quickly. The four-hole is the smaller one and is easier for a puppy to start on.
